About Kailiopi Support Services

Our mission at Kalliopi Support Services is to start with the person and not just the plan in terms of providing quality support. Our personalised support and support coordination services aim to assist participants to make sound choices, gain confidence, become independent and ultimately lead a meaningful life.

Based in Blacktown, Sydney, we are dedicated to supporting NDIS participants through a person centred approach based on the individual’s goals, strengths, preferences, circumstances and aspirations.

Ultimately, our mission is to walk alongside our participants to know what is important to them and assist them in finding realistic pathways to independence.

Mission

Our Mission

We aim to enable individuals to make their own choices and be in control of their lives.

We realise that each individual has his or her own aims. Independence could mean having adequate accommodation for one participant. It may mean mastering the skill of independent living, being involved in the community, building up social contacts, accessing services, or getting employment for another person.
We take note of what an individual aims at and help him or her to make these desires tangible and realistic.

Our job is not to do everything for you but to assist you in achieving your potential.

Story

Our Story

Kalliopi Support Services history is characterised by the values of family, community, compassion, and lived experience.

The Beginning

Our founder was motivated by her grandmother, an immigrant woman who was advocating for her community despite dealing with her own struggles. She taught us how important it is to help others without prejudice, listen attentively, and be kind and respectful to people. This has been an essential basis of Kalliopi Support Services.

Foundation

Since 2012, our founder has been working in various community sectors such as childcare, aged care, and disability support. This experience has introduced her to different kinds of people, those with different disabilities, diagnoses, life experiences, and needs.
All these years of professional experience, along with lived experience, have led to the development of a support model that is based on empathy, understanding, and constant learning.

Approach

A Neuro-Affirming Approach

One of the strengths of Kailiopi Support Services is our awareness of neurodiversity and differences in individuals.

Our CEO herself is a neurodiverse person and lived experience in the field of support coordination. Such an approach can offer another angle of insight when working with participants who might be perceiving things differently and may need an individualised approach to their support.

In combination with having a background in early childhood education and experience in the field of disability and community services, it offers us a wider scope of understanding various behaviours, modes of communication, needs, and strengths.

“We do not think that people should change themselves in order to get the proper support. What we try to do is to stand each participant individually.”

Experience

Experience That Makes a Difference

It takes not just an understanding of the service systems but patience, flexibility, communication skills, and an ability to appreciate the person behind the needs.
We have worked with people who have been in challenging situations.
Specifically, our experience includes working with participants who might need help with:

The Kalliopi difference

Why Choose Kalliopi Support Services?

Our Promise to You

Promise to give you an environment where you will be listened to, respected, supported and empowered.

The goals are yours. The choices are yours. We assist you in coordinating, connecting and empowering you to make them happen.

At Kalliopi Support Services, independence does not mean that you can do everything by yourself. Independence means having the ability to choose, have confidence, skills and support to make your life what you want it to be.

Approach

Our Approach to Support Coordination

Our support coordination methodology is based on a simple, effective process.

1
Listen
Hear your story
2
Understand
Grasp your needs
3
Plan
Chart the course
4
Connect
Link to services
5
Support
Ongoing guidance

Firstly, we start with an understanding of your situation and objectives. After that, we will help you to discover some practical ways to achieve these goals, connecting you with appropriate services and professionals, coordinating your supports and reviewing them depending on changes in your requirements.

The main purpose of our methodology is to make the support process easier to comprehend and deal with as to help you become more confident and in control.

Community

Community and Sector Partnerships

We have made connections with providers who have experience working with complex needs.

For instance, we have been cooperating with Caremax Mobility for two years now, assisting participants with functional assessments, assistive technology, and home modifications.
We have also partnered with providers who are experienced in dealing with physical impairments, neurological conditions, complex behaviours, and accommodation needs.
All this helps us develop a wider network of support around the participants while considering their individual needs.

Trusted

Working With Trusted Professionals

Supporting participants can often involve a team effort among multiple services and professionals.

Persistence

We Believe in Persistence

Life doesn’t always move in a linear direction, and growth may take some time. At Kalliopi Support Services, we never give up on a participant in case he or she meets some obstacles or difficult situations.

We find ways and strategies that will suit the individual participant.

Once, there was a participant who usually stayed somewhere for only two or three days before feeling like moving away. With an environment that was more conducive for her, she managed to stay at that location for about three weeks.

Progress can always be made in little steps.
